Jasmine Silver Needle

Silver needle refers to the leaf itself, young buds picked before they open and still covered in fine down. Scented with fresh jasmine blossom and grown at 1,000 metres in Guangxi Province, China, the buds take fragrance gently, which is why the cup lands softer and less perfumed than a rolled jasmine tea. It suits a slow afternoon and a second pot. Because the buds are downy and light, they want a cooler pour and a shorter steep than a rolled leaf, and the cup that results is pale gold and barely astringent at all.
