Assam

Assam sits on the floodplain of the Brahmaputra in northeast India, barely fifty metres above sea level, and the heat and humidity there produce a leaf unlike any other. Assam tea has long been prized for malt, a thick and bready sweetness that carries milk better than almost anything else in the cup. This organic single-origin delivers it at full strength. The leaf is grown at low elevation on rich alluvial soil, which is where the weight in the cup comes from, and it is cut to give colour fast and hold it under a generous splash of milk.
