English Breakfast so bad I binned it

Expected a leaf tea with flavour. Got crumbs with no discernible leaves, ie horrid texture! and then a taste like something from a compost bin. Really ghastly. A disgrace. Not even worth one star.

I exclusively drink brewed tea from a teapot at a strength which suits my palate. I strongly dislike tea bags and therefore my review only relates to my brews of Nerada English Breakfast tea. While l have been a long-term fan of the now redundant Nerada Black Tea, l have found that the English Breakfast Tea to be extremely agreeable with a strong full bodied flavour. It is one of my favourite afternoon teas. However it is regrettable that the 100% Australian home grown, pesticide free, Nerada Black tea could not have been continued concurrently with the English Breakfast blend which utilizes imported tea. Further there is no information relating to where the imported tea comes from or the percentage used in the blend.
I think there is a place for both teas on the Australian market, particularly where the use of pesticides cannot be excluded from the English Breakfast blend.

Condolences

When i read maybe a year ago that Nerada would no longer be growing english breakfast i stockpiled a few boxes. I thought it simply wouldn't exist anymore. I'm sad to see it has been replaced with an import, but mostly i'm just sad about the situation that has lead Nerada to not be able to offer a locally grown English Breakfast. After such a long history, it must of been a hard decision.

May as well use a teabag

I have to agree with the majority of earlier reviews that this so called « English Breakfast » replacement for Nerada’s own black leaf is in fact no replacement, we find it both tarry and a little bitter in aftertaste; it has neither the delicate, refreshing flavour of Nerada’s home grown leaf tea nor the subtle fragrance of a true English Breakfast in our opinion. It is more like a ‘quick tips’ type leaf (not a compliment).
At the moment we are trying a competitor’s leaf tea and it’s quite palatable, although as Nerada’s previous offering; and yes I do notice your new « English Breakfast » offering languishing ob the bottom shelf despite its competitive pricing.
Trying to market a selection of teas without an outstanding black leaf tea product is like running a navy without an aircraft carrier, nothing to really spearhead your assault on the marketplace. Your homegrown product had achieved icon status over the years, only to replaced by a run of the mill import ( in the main). We urge you to consider resurrecting your fine home grown tea.
We will give yr EB another go but are not hopeful of staying with it ifnoimprovemt over our first try.

I am shocked to find out I can no longer buy your Australian grown black tea here in New Zealand, so came to your website to see if I can buy direct! Only to read all the other reviews saying you no longer make it! What will I do without your wonderful product that grew so deliciously just over the ditch? Please please bring it back!
